I studied "Yoga As Therapy" training with Doug Keller, The Yoga University of Florida, in 2015 and in England in 2017, following these periods of study , I use the skills and knowledge I acquired to work in ways to promote recovery, emphasising restoration and realignment. Please note that this way of working does not provide a medical diagnosis. It can provide an assessment, based upon which practices for restoration and realignment are recommended. The yoga therapy components of my teaching are based on my training with Doug Keller, not derived from my status as an RYT with Yoga Alliance Registry.
My background in teaching sport, gymnastics and dance, together with my own recovery from a hip replacement and operations on both knees, also provide me with an in depth understanding of the impact of sports , surgery and injuries. This knowledge and experience informs the way I work as does my training, in 2023, as a Thomas Hanna Somatic Movement Educator . After many years of managing a back condition, through my yoga practices, I have literally moved out of pain with this additional, very specific and targeted way of releasing chronically held tension, known as sensory motor amnesia.
Practices are designed to meet your individual needs, including therapeutic ones, to restore and improve function after injury or surgery and support function with age related conditions. Also, practices designed for athletes whose particular sport impacts predominantly in certain areas of the body, resulting in functional imbalances. Specific practices are also designed to improve sports performance.
Tailored, written practice for you to follow can be provided. Online practice also available.
Individual investment of £60 for one hour. First session usually 80-90 minutes so needs can be evaluated and any health concerns/ mobility issues can be accommodated.
Team rates negotiable , depending on group size and session duration.
